Woyomegate Saga: Court Adjourns Case Again

This time, for a further four more weeks, so as to give the prosecution more time to conclude investigations into the GHC 51 million judgement debt scandal.
Court records show Woyome and three others were charged on February 6, 2012. The embattled NDC businessman, who is alleged to have put in false claims to retrieve the said GHC51.2 million has pleaded not guilty to three counts of conspiracy, defrauding by false pretences and corrupting a public officer.The three others, a Chief State Attorney, Samuel Nerquaye-Tetteh is facing two counts of conspiracy and corruption of public officer, the Director of Legal Services of the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning, Mr Paul Asimenu, is facing one count of abetment of crime while Gifty, wife of Nerquaye-Tetteh is faced with one count of abetment of crime.
The three have all pleaded not guilty to the charges.
After series of adjournment, the case was called on Monday, April 30, 2012, but the prosecution, it appears, seemed not ready.
Clearly unhappy with the slow pace of piecing together evidence, the defence counsels prayed the court to review the bail conditions.
Currently, the accused persons report twice weekly to the police, something which the defence team finds a bit cumbersome, and requested that their clients be made to report once a week.
But the sitting judge refused and rescheduled the case to June 4, 2012.
