The YES fund is a Government of Ghana programme initiated by President John Dramani Mahama with a ten million Ghana cedis (GH¢10,000,000) seed fund to assist young Ghanaians with creative and innovative business ideas and plans to become entrepreneurs.

Mr Adu Asare was appointed barely two months ago to head the Secretariat of YES after President John Mahama launched the initiative in August.

Minister for Youth and Sports, Mahama Ayariga disclosed on the Joy FM’s Super Morning Show, Monday, September 29, 2014 that the former Member of Parliament for Adentan has been replaced by Helga Boadi, a banking professional.

It is unclear if Mr. Adu Asare’s removal has anything to do with his role as head of the Committee that supervised Ghana’s poor performance at the Brazil 2014 World Cup tournament last June.

President of Policy Think Tank IMANI Ghana, Franklin Cudjoe a couple of weeks ago, called on President Mahama to sack Mr. Adu Asare for his involvement in the poor management of the Black Stars World Cup campaign in Brazil.

“If the gentleman who …had a simple objective of attracting corporate funds and using it for something else will be the same gentleman that will go and sit clearly on this YES fund, I think it borders on issues of integrity. I will advise him to resign from the YES thing immediately,” said Franklin Cudjoe in an interview on Citi FM.

Mr. Ayariga, without giving any further details said: “Miss Helga Boadi is the new head of YES”.

“All I can tell you is that Miss Halgar Boadi is in charge of YES now,” he told host of the Super Morning Show, Kojo Yankson.

Until her appointment, Helga Boadi was Corporate Affairs manager at First Atlantic Bank. She is a former Country Manager at Fasyl Technology Ghana Limited. She holds a Master’s Degree in Project Management from the University of Salford, Manchester, UK.
