Just as his actual name was in doubt, so was his real age because he had many of them.

Since the Dansoman-based labourer had earlier used different sets of names to register on 15 occasions at different locations, the police as well as the registration officials still doubted he gave them the right name and age—Archibald Laryea and 47 years respectively.

The different card details in his possession were: Laryea Archibald, Age- 45, Date- March 26, 2012 and Registration Centre Code- C082410; Name- Emmanuel Laye Laryea, Age- 47, Date- March 27, 2012 and Registration Code- C083414; and Name- Justice Fred Provencal, Age- 46, Date- March 30, 2012, and Registration Code- C082415.

Photo ReportingThe labourer was grabbed on Tuesday around 10:30am at Sakaman when he attempted to register for the 16th time at the Tantua International School Registration Centre.

However, in an attempt to resist arrest, the suspect was alleged to have bitten off the thumb of one of the police officers.

Corporal William Afedo of the Odorkor Police Station, who sustained injuries from the bite, was rushed to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital for treatment.

With the help of other police officers, Laryea was overpowered and detained at the Odorkor District Police Station awaiting trial.

Briefing DAILY GUIDE, the Odorkor District Crime Officer, Emmanuel Osei, said Laryea, early Tuesday morning, went to the Tantua International School Registration Centre to register.

During registration, the machine detected that he had already registered at Naroda Registration Centre so officials questioned him but he denied it.

He was handed over to the police by the registration officials led by Gideon Asare Barffour.

Police investigations led to the recovery of 15 of the biometric voter’s identity cards with his picture on them but with different names.

Thirteen of the old voter’s registration cards were also retrieved from his room.

When he was questioned, he could not give any answer but begged for forgiveness.

The suspect is currently in police custody assisting in police investigations.
